Lead Manufacturing Engineer

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer (LME) position is a very interesting, challenging position. You act as kind of Project Manager for the industrialization of the product portfolio in our product line (AS ECU). Responsibility from quote support of each project following the entire product development until series production.
The LME role is interacting with several other competencies like design team (electrical, mechanical, PjM, tech manager) as well as with the plant and being customer interface for any technical discussion and industrialization related clarification.
Responsibility for industrialization of AS ECU products from award phases until series production
Support kick-off meetings and MSD workshops with/in the PML, create/adapt process flow
Drive DFM and DFA to ensure having a producible design
Ensure proper requirements management and align with APTIV CAQE accordingly, plan requirements transfer to PML
Align industrialization deliverables with CAQE, being customer interface for technical discussion
Work out the production line concept with optimized material flow, estimated cycle times, and traceability concept
Work out supplier packaging requirements
Attend the regular PDT meetings and drive a proper escalation in case of problems
Create and maintain the MFGE project schedule respecting the project milestones
Prepare and organize the milestone build dates with process engineers from PML, starting with early prototype builds and organization of needed prototype equipment, including documentation
Attend key (prototype) build events for new layouts and all customer attended events
Drive and track P-FMEA, respecting Functional Safety aspects with related documentation
Plan needed equipment / technology, work out SOW and manage equipment procurement
Track needed equipment and tooling, ensure availability of needed material for all equipment/tool development, install equipment/design reviews before approving start of fabrication/development
Perform equipment buy-off at suppliers and request PML process engineers to attend and approve as needed, drive capability studies, create list of key parameters to be transferred to quality plan
Plan product and process/equipment training and handover to PML, starting after PV readiness
Attend needed escalation meetings on program management level with prepared reports and options for resolution
Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive industry, preferred in manufacturing engineering
Bachelor degree or similar with technical education
Excellent project management skills
Good problem solving capability
Ability to work and live a global network environment
Great knowledge of lean concepts
Strong team spirit
