Product Cybersecurity Chief – Active Safety & User Experience Europe (f/m/d)

Mission of the Role

Partner with the Executive Director of Europe Engineering with a mission to maximize organization effectiveness and efficiency via strategic and tactical initiatives across cybersecurity engineering. Organize, institutionalize, lead and drive improvements in the cyber security functional discipline including, but not limited to: definition of technical project/program cybersecurity strategies, direct customer engagement, technical reviews, budget management, resource planning, capacity assessments and optimization as well as project team performance metrics. The Cyber Security Chief is an integral member of the Engineering leadership team working closely with customer engineering teams, other functional leaders and the corporate Cyber Security team to define and execute technical direction, project tracking and performance measurement. The Cyber Security Chief will provide support directly and indirectly to project teams through technical leadership and deployment of cybersecurity product managers. 

You Role

  • Provide technical leadership in customer cyber security discussions, leveraging personal expertise and working knowledge of ISO 21434

  • Build and lead a team of product cybersecurity managers to provide project level cybersecurity capability and leadership for all programs the European region is responsible for

  • Proactively manage design and architectures, leveraging up to date industry best practices, to effectively mitigate threats in a manner that allows requirements to be met with minimal risk, appropriate security control and allows maximum re-use of both architectural blocks as well as implementations

  • Provide cybersecurity technical expertise and oversight in software, hardware, and manufacturing development activities (including the management of cryptograhic keys) throughout the entire product development on programs for which the European region is responsible

  • Supports and provides technical input to product cybersecurity engineers in the development of cybersecurity plans (Cybersecurity Concept Document, Cybersecurity Plan, Cybersecurity Assurance Document, SEMP, CRMP, etc.) directly and through team members

  • Participate in the Aptiv cybersecurity steering committee meetings in a bi-directional manner to ensure both concerns and best practices within the region are openly embraced and solved by the larger organization

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in a Science, IT or Engineering Discipline

  • 10+ years automotive Tier 1 or OEM or IT industry cybersecurity experience engineering, operations and program management experience.

  • 5+ years of experience clearly articulating communication with senior stakeholders across business functions

  • 5+ years of experience managing senior team members within the engineering function

  • Previous experience defining and implementing cybersecurity methodologies for a full electronics product delivery

  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency and strong follow-through

  • Detail oriented individual with strong organizational concept/capabilities

  • Working level knowledge and experience in the following areas:

    • Software security feature implementation in both embedded and network contexts
      (secure boot, gateways, network isolation, secure updates, etc.)

    • Automotive networking (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.) desirable but not required,

    • Wireless (cellular, satellite, Bluetooth) protocols,

    • Embedded hardware security (Hardware trust anchor / HSM)

    • Security in over the air updates.

    • Pre-existing knowledge of vehicle architectures, and variations across multiple
      OEMs is desirable but not required

  • Ability to manage stressful internal and external situations

  • Strong problem solving capabilities

  • Self motivated and ability to self manage to achieve desired outcomes

  • Ability to properly handle confidential information with discretion
